Amanda Nealon is Paralegal at Core Investments, Inc. She joined the company in March 2019.
What do you actually do for Core?
I track and assist with any and all legal documentation. I’m usually focusing on transactions, leasing documentation, and small projects. I facilitate with outside counsel for legal services and handle as much in house as possible. With Gary, who is my direct supervisor, I assist with all acquisitions and financings regardless of whether we bring in outside counsel, and any legal documents that are related. [Gary Lilienthal is Core Investments’ General Counsel.]
Amanda, what did you do before Core?
Before Core I was still working in the real estate practice area, at a firm rather than in-house. The firm I previously worked at was Bowditch & Dewey, now Bowditch. I was a paralegal in my last position, but the main difference in roles is that rather than working with the company as a client, I am now working as the client. The perspective changes somewhat. I previously assisted with transactions in different municipalities all over Massachusetts. Since joining Core, my primary focus over the past three years has been the South Boston area.
Where did you go to school?
I graduated Suffolk University with a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Legal Studies.
And where did you grow up?
Northborough, Massachusetts.
What do you do to have fun and when you’re not working?
There’s not much fun going on outside of work and school currently, because I am a student in the evening program at Suffolk University Law School. I just started my first year. It’s been a lot to manage, but I love it. I’m enjoying school, and grateful that everyone that I work with at Core has been so supportive. I’m also lucky that my co-workers and supervisors encourage me to laugh and keep things light in the office. No matter how busy we get, my company never fails to keep in mind that laughter is the best medicine. Besides that, I walk around different areas of Boston with my dogs, and that’s three in one – fun, exercise, and a good therapeutic break for my mind. I have two dogs. My boyfriend and I have a German Shepherd and a Maltese. They’re quite the pair. One is 80 pounds and one is five pounds.
Where do you live now?
I live in the Back Bay in Boston, which I absolutely love. I’m happy that I’m able to walk to work and school.
What’s a favorite place of yours in the Boston area?
The courtyard at the Boston Public Library is especially my favorite place of late when it’s not extremely cold outside. It’s my favorite place to do work when I can. It’s beautiful and peaceful. Otherwise, the Esplanade is my favorite place to catch a sunrise or a sunset.
Is there anything new in your life?
That’s probably as new as it gets now. Managing law school in addition to my full-time job is luckily the extent of what’s new in my life.
