A FEW MINUTES WITH BRANDYN CROCKETT OF CORE INVESTMENTS, INC.

Brandyn Crockett is a Senior Property Accountant at Core Investments, Inc. He joined the company in August 2022.

What do you actually do for Core?

I do financials for some of the residential and commercial properties. Things like bank reconciliations. And I do some side projects related to accounting. I’m working on a 1099 tax forms project right now. I assist with any other financial related responsibilities.

Brandyn, what did you do before Core?

I was a staff accountant at Hersha Hospitality Management in Harrisburg, PA. They do hospitality management, and I was doing a lot of the same things there. Monthly financials, doing ownership reporting for the outside ownership groups. Preparing financial packages for them. I did weekly cash flows to help out with some of the hotels struggling through pandemic, to make sure they would survive.

Where did you go to school?

I went to school Kutztown University, near Allentown, Pennsylvania. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts in accounting.

And where did you grow up?

In a little town called Newport, Pennsylvania, about 30 minutes northwest of Harrisburg.

Where do you live now?

I live in Arlington. It’s a nice location.

What do you do to have fun when you’re not working?

My main hobby is playing electric guitar. I’ve played for almost 10 years now. It’s a very consistent hobby for me. I like also like to go to the gym, work out. Sometimes my girlfriend and I go on hiking trips. Or sometimes with friends we go on different trips.

Did you play in a band?

No. Just me. I don’t perform, it’s just like a practicing thing for me. My inspiration to play guitar was Eddie Van Halen. I’m a huge fan. I was “tapping.” I practiced the hell out of “Eruption.” I have an Ibanez Prestige I play right now, a seven-string. The extra string is a B in standard tuning. It’s popular for use if you don’t have a bass guitarist. Back home in Pennsylvania I used to play — it was kind of unique — a Schecter Synyster Gates Custom.

What’s a favorite place of yours in the Boston area?

I’m still fairly new to the area. I like going to the TD Garden for Celtics or Bruins games. I’m not necessarily a Boston fan — growing up in Pennsylvania kind of complicates things. But I like going to a game when I get a chance.

Is there anything new in your life?

Interesting question. I’m having a lot of new things in my life at moment. I’m about to have a wife next year. I’m engaged. I’m actually about to buy a new car within the next week. We’re looking a SUVs, nothing too big. The only car I have is a two-door coupe, and it doesn’t work well for moving stuff.
