A FEW MINUTES WITH JACK FRIEDEN OF CORE INVESTMENTS, INC.
Jack Frieden is Associate Development Manager at Core Investments, Inc. He joined the company in February 2024.
What do you actually do for Core?
A lot. I help manage various development projects for Core, specifically the On the Dot development in South Boston. Right now I’m responsible for managing the overall master schedule, designing and confirming that various presentations that we present to the internal executive teams are up to date — of market strategy, activation elements and building concepts — in conjunction with other consultants. At this point, I’m getting my feet wet in all development aspects, from strategy to finance to construction to entitlements to site activation. Being involved in all those conversations with John [John Cissel, President of Development) and Michael [Michael Cahill, Senior Vice President for Development and Luis [Luis Mejias, Senior Development Manager] has allowed me to understand Core’s goals, initiatives, and processes in a short time frame.
Jack, what did you do before Core?
I was a project engineer at Wise Construction in Winchester, MA. I worked on the Alexandria Real Estate Equities account, building labs, offices, and other amenity spaces for them. They were one of our most valued accounts, and we built a multitude of their projects in Greater Boston. Prior to that I was a co-op at HYM Investment Group, working on Bulfinch Crossing and Suffolk Downs.
Where did you go to school?
Wentworth Institute of Technology, in Boston.
And where did you grow up?
Burlington, MA.
Where do you live?
Burlington. I drive in. I’m currently looking to invest in a three-family home in Boston.
What do you do to have fun when you’re not working?
I am an avid musician, playing guitar and song-writing, as well as developing an app for various musician connections.
What kind of guitar do you play?
I just picked up a Les Paul Custom, which was my dream guitar.
What’s a favorite place of yours in the Boston area?
I like the Boston Common, just honestly. And the Public Garden.
Is there anything else new in your life?
Entering development. That’s been a passion of mine for a while. I’m very excited to be switching my career from construction to development. And buying my Les
Paul Custom, which is a milestone for me. Before, I played my grandfather’s Fender Telecaster.
